Son of Rachel and Aaron, Yaakov was born on August 15, 1982 in the Laniado Hospital in Netanya. A younger brother for two sisters – Limor and Sharon. Yaakov was named after his paternal grandfather, which for him was a source of pride, but only the broad and loving family and his close friends allowed him to call him that name, and everyone else called him Kobi. Kobi began his studies at the elementary school in Ma’aleh Efrayim and studied there until the age of 10, when his family moved from the settlement in the Jordan Valley to Moshav Burgata in Emek Hefer, and Kobi continued his studies at the Beit Yitzhak elementary school. After two more years, the family moved back to Monash village. Kobi went on to study at the Junior High School and the Ruppin Regional High School in the name of David Ben Gurion, where he completed his studies in Tourism and Economics with full matriculation, and at the same time taught Kobi in the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement. Kobi loved extreme sports – water skiing, cable skiing, traveling on a flying tractor, and jeep trips on the ground, and took every opportunity to travel in Israel and the world.In November 2000, Koby joined the IDF, Rotem Battalion in Givati. In the middle of the route, he went to an early squad commanders’ course, at the end of which he was asked to volunteer for a new battalion under construction – the Lavi Battalion, which does not belong to Givati.Kobi was part of the battalion’s initial staff and in November 2001 he began his career with Company A. On Thursday, 23 January 2003, Kobi and two of his soldiers left for a walking tour from the Tel Zif post in the direction of the Sheep Junction between Yatta and Hebron. At 20:17 in the evening, a group of terrorists opened fire at them from the side of the road. Kobi was killed with his soldiers: Corporal Barer Ronald and Corporal Bitan Assaf. Sgt. Kobi Naim was buried in the military section of the cemetery in the village of Monash, and he was twenty-five months old, and was known as a well-organized and orderly man, who knew what his will was about the funeral processions and mementos.
