Yaakov, Albert
Albert, son of Lucy and Jacob Cohen, was born on July 4, 1951. Albert was drafted into the IDF at the end of November 1970 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing his basic training, he moved to retraining courses. When he went on holiday, he had no family to take care of him and satisfy his hunger for warmth and love, despite the fact that he sometimes suffered from depression because of his loneliness. His parents had moved to Germany. Albert participated in the Yom Kippur War in the battles in the Sinai under the company Armash. At the beginning of the war, during the braking battles, his company served as a reconnaissance company and operated in the central sector of the canal. Then this company was with the Spear Battalion, which broke out first across the western bank of the Canal, and participated in clearing the enemy’s missile bases and securing the routes of our forces. On October 19, 1973, the company was shelled at an observation post opposite the city of Ismailia. Albert was hit by shrapnel and killed on the spot. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Albert was the only child of his parents, without brothers or sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant.
