Wysburt, Ofer


Son of Yael and Jonathan. He was born on 27.11.1969 in Kibbutz Neveh Yam, the eldest son of a family of two children. Ofer began studying at the elementary school at Kibbutz Neveh Yam. On his ninth birthday, the family moved to Holon, where he continued his elementary studies at the Bialik School. When the land was over fourteen years ago, the family moved to Yavneh, where he continued his studies at the Ginsburg High School in a biologically humanistic direction. Ofer – a handsome young man whose sharp and clear face and facial features testify to a mature, special personality. Thinking about his plans for the future, he spoke of his desire to go to medical school, perhaps biology. At the beginning of March 1988, Ofer was drafted into compulsory military service by the IDF, and Ofer’s father, Yoni, was at that time a lieutenant colonel in combat engineering. He went to basic training in the Etzion battalion and was sent to serve in the Assaf Battalion of the Engineering Corps, where he went on training and other operational activities, during which he wrote to a member of his family: “We do exactly what everyone sees on television: , Checkpoints. People who are caught are beaten up with murder and you will not believe how people in civilian life are completely quiet people who become savages and sometimes beat without limits. I am glad I have not yet won the beating of stone throwers, and not every Arab should be slapped and humiliated in front of his family. “On March 26, 1989, he fell while serving. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Ofer arrived at the battalion, a direct continuation of the course chosen by the engineering corps, if only for the purpose.
