Wolfsthal, Tuvia
Son of Chaim. Tuvia was born in Bielsko-Biala in 1930. He immigrated to Israel with his sister Lilly in 1947, after his parents were murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust.
Tuvia joined the IDF in 1950, and in 1953 he was released. In the service, he served as a medic and proved a great talent in the field of treating injuries. Later Tuvia worked for a year in a health maintenance organization in the Negev region. He then joined the Border Police as a combat soldier. He went through basic training and served in companies A and C. Tuvia loved the field of medicine very much and wanted to continue with it, but his hopes did not materialize.
On Tu B’Iyar 5715 (May 9, 1954), Tuvia was killed in combat with Arab perpetrators near Jerusalem, while protecting his comrades and country. He is buried in the Haifa cemetery.
Nearly 64 years later, in November 2018, Tuvia was decorated by the Israel government for his bravery.
