Witzfeld, Shlomo-Menachem (Shlaim)


Son of Esther and David, was born on 14.12.1930 in the city of Neumun (Domidin), near Danzig. He was three years old when his parents immigrated to Palestine. They settled in Tel Aviv. He completed his studies at the Bilu elementary school and later studied at the Geula School of Commerce in Tel Aviv, where he was educated in the tradition of Israel and was very interested in the history of Israel and in poetry. And was active in the Irgun underground called “Tzuria.” His slogan was: “Here in Eretz Israel there will be no Treblinka.” During the War of Independence he participated in the battles of Jaffa, Abu Kabir, Ramleh and fell near Wilhelma. And was brought to Hadassah Hospital, where he died four days later, on May 21, 1948. He was 17 years old when he fell, and was brought to eternal rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery
