Wiseman, Yehoshua
Yehoshua, son of Esther and Abraham Wiseman, was born on the 23rd of Shevat 5727 (26.1.1927) in Jerusalem. He participated in many daring activities in Jerusalem and its surroundings, spent some time in the Old City, participated in bombing operations in Romema, in the Battle of Hartuv, in search of the Lamed-Hah platoon that fell in combat on its way to Gush Katif Etzion and the Battle of Heroism near Atarot. In all the operations he excelled in courage and fighting ability. Yehoshua fell on the 23rd of Adar I 5708 (March 4, 1948) when he left with a platoon from the Moriah battalion to ambush the Arab transport on the Ramallah-Latrun road near Beitunia. On the way to Atarot, the platoon was attacked by an Arab mob and only three of them managed to survive. Yehoshua fought until the last minute, with the Bren gun in his hand. He was buried in Sanhedria in Jerusalem. On the 5th of Elul 5711 (6.9.1951), he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
