Wise, Tamir


Son of Rila and Gideon. He was born on June 14, 1966 in Nahariya. He studied at the Remez elementary school, in the junior high school in the regional high school in the Western Galilee, and in the mechanics of the ORT high school in Kiryat Bialik. A tall, tall guy who played basketball in the high school team and loved to listen to heavy rock music, ride his motorcycle and travel around the country. In mid-July 1984, Tamir went on to basic training, graduated as an outstanding apprentice and returned to complete his studies in the subject of fine mechanics, as part of the technological reserve at the School of Practical Engineers. At the end of his studies he received a certificate from the Ministry of Education and Culture and M.T. In May 1985, Tamir was drafted into the IDF. Due to his high technical education he was assigned to an aircraft mechanic course, but Tamir wanted to serve in a combat unit and was indeed assigned to a combat engineering battalion, in charge of the battalion’s heavy mechanical equipment. Tamir went on a course for armored personnel carriers and a Cheetah mechanic course. He joined the unit and contributed greatly to the maintenance of the motorized equipment in the battalion. Later he was promoted to sergeant. In the opinion form, his commander noted that Tamir had high motivation, strong will and extensive professional knowledge. For these reasons he was also asked to join the career army and continue to contribute to the maintenance of the motorized equipment in the battalion. In May 1988, Tamir signed his permanent army service. On the 22nd of Cheshvan 5749 (November 2, 1988) Tamir fell in the line of duty. After his death, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Nahariya, where he left behind his parents and a sister in a letter of consolation to the family: “… I spoke to Tamir several times and always talked about professional matters.
