Wise, Shmuel

Son of Zissu and Frida, members of Kibbutz Shaar HaAmakim. He was born on 20 June 1947. He completed his education there, was a member of “Hapoel” because of his passion for sports, and was a member of the Haifa Dance Company. Shmuel was able to raise his morale by humorizing his words and encouraging them with words of encouragement, but when it was necessary to be serious when discussing any issue that required thought and seriousness, he knew how to be serious and reasonable. He was not a “burnt idealist.” Sometimes he would be harshly critical, even if it did not make sense He was drafted into the IDF in August 1966 but did not serve in the Armored Corps for more than 10 months, when the Six-Day War broke out, and in one of the most difficult battles there was, the battle that took place at the Rafah crossing on its first day was 26 Iyar 5727 (5.6.1967) fell from an Egyptian shell hit the half-track while he was in the unit of the armored reconnaissance unit and served as a machine gun in. At the junction the most powerful Egyptian formation was fortified in Sinai and about a hundred meters before the junction the battle began, In the trap, because at the end of the road there were minefields and retreat was impossible. Shmuel was rescued from the half-track before the second hit, and was put to rest at the cemetery in his kibbutz. In the booklet “53 of them”, which was published in memory of the fallen of Kibbutz Artzi in the Six Day War, a page was dedicated to his history, and his memory was published in the pamphlet of the Zevulun Regional Council “Pages”
