Wilner, Yehiel-David (Chilik)
Son of Alta and Meir-Fishel was born on the 5th of Sivan 5626 in the city of Blandov, Poland, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1935. Immediately after graduating from the elementary school in Haifa, he began working to help his parents. Was a devoted son to his parents’ house and loyal to himself and his friends. At first, he joined the Scouts movement and, in recent years, joined the “Mahanot Haolim” and together with them, he went on a training course in Dafna. As a loyal member of the Haganah, he did not hesitate and was one of the first recruits and participated as a soldier in the Carmeli Brigade in the reconnaissance unit in various activities: the bombing of the house on Yechiel Street and the capture of the village of rioters in Ladd a-Sheikh as a medic. Yehiel-David was killed in Kiryat Eliyahu on the 4th of Shvat 5708 (15.1.1948), when he was rushed to the aid of his two injured comrades, and his last words were: “Save me, I want to live.”
