Wilchek, Eliahu (Ze’evi)
Son of Ahuva and Moshe, was born on December 24, 1928 in Jerusalem, where he received his popular education. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement. He spent most of his free time preparing for the matriculation examinations and studied with great diligence. He worked as a clerk in the Department of Immigrant Absorption at the Jewish Agency and in the evenings he paid for his studies. He was a serious, quiet, strong boy. At the age of 17, he joined the Haganah and later became a member of the Palmach in Beit Ha’arava, where he participated in the bombing of the Allenby Bridge and was arrested by the British in Latrun for several months. (March 4, 1948), he set out with his platoon to ambush the enemy traffic on the Jerusalem-Ramallah road and were attacked by an Arab mob,and was buried in Sanhedria. 5th of Elul 5711 (6.9.1951) was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
