Wiesel, Revital


Daughter of Rachel and Isaac. Born on 29 May 1974 in Kiryat Haim, the eldest daughter of a family of three, Revital studied at the Arlozorov Elementary School in Kiryat Haim and at the Kiryat Haim High School in the biological-theoretical track. She was a talented athlete who was very successful in her studies, and was an outstanding athlete who was particularly prominent in volleyball games.Revital had a very high professional ability, a serious attitude to training, dedication and love for games All of which made her an outstanding player, who brought her team in the school to win the state championship She also participated in an international competition for youth in Turkey and Hungary, and was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement, and in October 1992 she was recruited for compulsory military service. She completed basic training and was assigned to the Military Police Corps. She was sent to a policewoman course and continued with a policing and transportation course. At the end of the course, her commanding officer wrote: “Responsible, friendly and proactive …”. Revital received the rank of corporal and was sent to serve at the military police base in Tzrifin, and according to her command, Revital performed her role in the best possible way, and was sent to an educational training course and served as an educational noncom. In this role, she contributed greatly to the unit’s social life. A dominant, entrepreneurial girl who showed initiative and showed motivation. On the 27th of Cheshvan 5754 (October 27, 1993), Revital fell in the line of duty. She was killed in a traffic accident during a patrol of traffic on the Tzrifin-Nachshon junction. Her injury was very difficult. She was taken to Kaplan Hospital, but died a few hours later. She was laid to rest in the military section of the Tzur Shalom cemetery in Kiryat Bialik. Survived by her parents and two brothers – Zvi and Eyal. At the age of nineteen, Revital was in exile. After her death she was promoted to sergeant. In her letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit’s commander wrote: “… during her service in the unit, Revital stood out for her good qualities and her proper qualities … In all her work she proved initiative and involvement, responsibility and devotion … An album booklet in her memory, and each year the family commemorates her name in a tournament of volleyball games.
