Wiener, Shalom (Zellie)


The only son of Yaffa and Aharon was born on 27.4.1930 in Berlin, the capital of Germany. In 1934, he immigrated to Israel with his parents, grew up in Kfar Malal, where he graduated from the local school, moved to Tel Aviv, specialized as a dancer and was accepted to a regular job, and in the evenings he studied at an evening school. The War of Independence took place in February 1948. In February 1948, he went to training and was transferred from the training base to Gan Haim, where he volunteered for a saboteurs course and fought in the Arab transport routes, especially in Qalqiliya and Tul- Kerem participated in the occupation of the villages of Hiriya and Salameh, after the situation in Jerusalem worsened following the closure of the road by the IDF At the Legion in Latrun, the “son of-Nun Aleph” operation was carried out and the task force was assigned to the newly established brigade 7, which was reinforced by the Alexandroni Brigade, which was tasked with capturing Latrun. He was absent from the battle in Latrun on the 17th of Iyar 5708 (26.5.1948) On the 17th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949) he was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, along with the other fallen fighters of Latrun.
