Yonatan (Yonah), the only son of Frida and Shmuel, was born on May 1, 1947, in Mirzaschul, Russia, and immigrated to Israel with his family in late 1959. At first the family lived in Kiryat Haim, where Yoni studied at the “Meginim” elementary school. After graduating, he graduated with honors from the international vocational school in the fields of penitence and mechanics. In 1962, his family moved from Kiryat Haim and settled in Kiryat Motzkin. During this period, Yoni entered a youth movement and later served as a counselor. He went on a lot of trips with his apprentices, and in his training classes he stood out for his originality. When he taught his apprentices about ancient man, his way of life and customs, he “disguised” an ancient man in order to create a real, interesting and attractive atmosphere. He was an exemplary friend, devoted and very loyal and always willing to help others. He loved life, he knew how to laugh, to walk and go wild, but at the same time he was a shy, sensitive, self-respecting, jealous boy. Yonatan was drafted into the IDF in May 1965 and was assigned to the Golani Brigade, where he was sent to a course for infantry commanders and after completing his training he was sent to a course in sports instructors. 1967. After his discharge, Yoni was hired to work at the telephone call center in Kiryat Motzkin, where he took part in all the preparatory work for the center and then worked as a technician. The hearts of his friends in his gentle and courteous manner. He also acquired a profession and took courses and advanced studies and became an outstanding technician. He was entrusted with many tasks that required great knowledge, ability to perform, diligence and perseverance, and he fulfilled all the requirements. In fact, only now, in his absence, do we realize how heavy the burden was and how much responsibility he was given and which he performed impeccably. He became one of the pillars of the socialization of the work team, which soon became a kind of family. Now, when we face a problem in the framework of the work, we think ‘Yonatan’ – and silent. “After the war in 1969 he took part in the course” And was sent to his unit in the south, and after his unit fought in the battle on the southern front, he crossed the Suez Canal to the western direction and embarked on the conquest of the Orha compound near Ismailia. When he got to the enclosure, APC injured his shell and killed instantly. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. He left behind a wife, daughter and parents. After his fall, he was given the rank of sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Your son served in an armored unit and performed his duties efficiently and with the satisfaction of his commanders. His family gathered from friends, commanders and family members about Jonathan; His name is included in a memorial booklet for his fallen soldiers and in a memorial for the fallen of Kiryat Motzkin, his place of residence; His name is engraved on a memorial plaque on the building of the telephone exchange in Kiryat Motzkin, and a library was established in his name in the telephone center where he worked.
