Whitman, Michael


Michael, son of Frida and Salomon, was born in 1927 in Poland. He belonged to the Betar youth movement and arrived in Israel in 1946. He joined one of the movement’s labor battalions, and when Etzel began its activities against the British, he joined the ranks and took part in many activities. When the Irgun attacked Ramle, he joined the IDF and participated in the Battle of Ein Ghazal during Operation “Policeman” to conquer the “Little Triangle” on the Carmel and the opening of the Tel Aviv-Haifa highway, where he fell on 18 Tamuz 5708 (25.7.1948). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya.
