Whiteson, Paul
Son of Harry and Rima. He was born on the 22nd of Tishrei 5747 (22.9.1955) in South Africa and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1962. He was born in Israel. He completed his elementary studies at the elementary school in Savyon. Afterward he completed his high school studies at the Ironi T. school in Eliahu, in a realistic track. He was a music lover, played the guitar. He loved the cruise and began building a boat (his younger brother completed construction after his fall). Paul was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early 1973 and assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training he was appointed tank driver. He was appointed NCO-tank. Later in his service he was appointed commander of the tank and continued to serve as a guide. In this position he was given the rank of sergeant. He was gifted, popular and friendly. On February 21, 1975, Paul fell in the line of duty, after being injured five days earlier in the Sinai incident when he was commanding a tank as a guide, and on the day of the accident he was told that he represented his unit to the President on Independence Day. And he left behind his parents, brother and sister, in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “He always aspired to perfection, to reach the best … Paul paved his way in the battalion modestly, with great work and infinite willingness. .. “
