Werner, Moshe

Son of Beila and Yehoshua, was born on November 11, 1919 in the city of Beich, west of Galicia. He studied for several years at the Halberstam Rebbe’s yeshiva in Bobov. During W.W. II, he was tortured in labor camps, and after the liberation he joined the “Bnei Akiva” Zionist pioneering training group in Cracow, where he was found to be a talented spiritual guide for educating the members to Torah and mitzvot. On his journey to Berlin, he went from morning prayers to arrange a kosher kitchen in the transit camp for the refugees who came from Poland and in Freibitz, Germany he organized and managed a training farm for Torah v’Avodah. After his marriage in May 1947, Moshe immigrated to Eretz Israel with his wife and they joined Kfar Etzion. After years of leadership and guidance, Moshe found his place as one of the regular workers for guarding and for fortifications. Moshe took part in the battles until he fell with the fall of the village on the 4th of Iyar 5708 May 13, 1948. On the 17th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949) he was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem.
