Weizmann, Jacob

Son of Nissim and Miriam. He was born on July 25, 1929 in Marrakech, Morocco. He was educated in a modern Hebrew school. Moved to a general school according to the instructions of “Alliance” and continued his Hebrew studies during his vacation. Even after completing his studies at the age of 12 he continued his studies in Judaism until he reached the age of 15. For lack of means, he was forced to leave school and began working as a clerk and tailor. He belonged to a Zionist movement. When he left in 1948 to spend his vacation in Casablanca, he decided to immigrate to Israel and informed his parents, and even though he and his brother were family leaders, the parents gave him their consent. He traveled to Algeria via Algiers and in September 1948, a month later, arrived in Palestine. Immediately upon his arrival he entered the army service in the air force. He fulfilled his duty to the homeland with great loyalty. One day he was seriously injured in his duty, and two weeks later, on the 29th of Adar 5709 (30 March 1949), died of his wounds and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
