Weitz, Eliezer


Son of Bluma and Avraham, was born on July 20, 1932 in Poland. In 1935 he immigrated to Israel with his parents, who settled in Tel Aviv. First Eliezer studied at the BILU elementary school, continued at the Tel Litvinsky educational institute, and finished with evening studies at the Pittman School, where he worked as a clerk in the “People’s Health Fund.” At the age of 16, Eliezer joined the ranks of the Irgun and became one of the organization’s active members. He took part in the pasting of leaflets, guarding its posts, the battle over Jaffa and the battles in Ramle. On the 15th of Sivan 5708 (22.6.1948) he fell on the Tel Aviv beach near the Altalena. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak
