Weitz, Binyamin-Ze’ev (“Teddy”)


Son of Yitzhak and Shoshana. He was born on 27.8.1923 in the city of Nuremberg, Germany. The family immigrated to Israel in 1932. He completed his studies at the Balfour High School in Tel Aviv. He belonged to the Haganah and served for six years in the British army. When he enlisted in the British army, he wanted to “buy a military advance at the expense of the future.” Participated in the War of Independence. He also served in the Israel Police. On the day of the Sinai Campaign, on the 29th of Mershvan 5727 (November 3, 1956), he fell in battle in Gaza and was ranked second lieutenant. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant. He left a wife and three children.
