Weiss, Yitzhak (Amery)
Son of Miriam and Moshe-Alexander, Yitzhak was born on September 5, 1929, in Skwany, Transylvania, Romania, where he studied in the Talmud Torah and later in the government school and was a diligent student. In 1944, the three of them were taken to the ghetto in Oordia, and from there they were sent to the Auschwitz death camp and immediately upon their arrival in Auschwitz on the eve of Shavuot, his mother perished. On his way to Palestine he was caught by the British and sent to detention camps in Cyprus. During the War of Independence he enlisted in the IDF in the “Alexandroni” Battalion 33. On August 21, 1948, Yitzhak fell in battle at Rosh Ha’ayin and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Netanya.
