Weiss, Reuben (Paul)


Son of Rachel and Ludwig was born on April 13, 1920, in the city of Timisoara, in southwestern Romania, 1940, he boarded the ship “Darian B.” After a four-month journey of hardships and adventures, he arrived in Israel in the spring of 1941 and was imprisoned for a year and a half in the Atlit camp. From the beginning of the War of Independence he served in the Hagana in Jerusalem, and when he was forced in February 1948 to transfer his wife and small son from Beit Hakerem to Haifa, he continued to serve in the army around the city. In August 1948 he was attached to a combat unit. He refused to be released despite chronic Lev disease, and was sent to the Upper Galilee. Reuven was wounded in a battle near Manara on October 23, 1948, and when he was wounded he took a severely wounded member and carried him on his back to a safe place a few kilometers away. after a year of Reuven considered as missing, they discovered that he had fallen and his grave was identified in the militery cemetery of rosh pina
