Weiser, Michael

Son of Baruch. Was born in 1912 in the city of Cube, Russia, to a family of merchants whose livelihood was difficult. As a child, his family moved to Podbulochisk in Galicia, where he studied and graduated from the Gymnasium. He joined the Betar youth movement in 1934. In 1934, Michael immigrated to Eretz Israel and went to study at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, but stopped studying, moved to Haifa and worked as a laborer in the “March” group and later in a glass factory. He was a modest but cheerful young man who was known for his willingness to help others and his friends, and every penny he saved was sent to his parents and his brothers abroad. On 27 Av, August 7, 1936, a large Arab gang attacked the car of the Notrim on the way from the Carmel forests. Michael was also in the car, and in the attack he was wounded and was killed with three of his friends. His name is mentioned in the books “L’Aish v’laMagen” and “The Events of 1936-1938”.
