Weinstock, Arie (Leibl)

Arie (Leibl), son of Yocheved and Yosef Weinstock, was born on November 2, 1928, in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Batei Varshaw, a third generation in Israel. He studied in the “cheder” and continued until the age of 14 to study at the Etz Chaim Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Even though he was an accountant he also learned the work of polishing diamonds. Arie was the only breadwinner in the family. Arie was a member of the Elitzur youth movement, a member of the Haganah from the age of 14 and underwent training in Jerusalem and Sodom. After a short period of service in Jerusalem during the first period of his struggle, he was sent to Gush Etzion and, in its defense, he fell. On the 25th of Nissan 5708 (4.5.1948), a bullet hit his spinal cord. He was buried in Kfar Etzion. On the 26th of Nissan 5708 (May 5, 1948) he was transferred with all the fallen of the Gush to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
