Weinberger, Zvi

Son of Yaacov and Glicka. He was born on the 3rd of Tishrei, September 11, 1926, in Lodz, Poland. When he immigrated to Israel, he was forced to make his own way of living, without any help from anyone. As a result, he did not complete his studies. At that time, his parents were killed by the Nazis, with his sisters. Only his brother was with him, and he was his only relative in the world. At first, he was a member of Maccabi, and later belonged to the Jewish settlement police, and served as a guard. Zvi participated in the War of Independence. He also had a part in the Sinai Campaign. Before the Six-Day War, he came, even though he was not called. He did his duty willingly and at his best. His colleagues in the unit loved him and appreciated him, and they often told him about his good attitude toward his fellow soldiers. The commanders noted him as, correct to obey an order at any time, and in any situation without any complaint. But on the 26th of Nissan, April 14, 1969, he died of a heart attack. He left a wife and three children. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
