Weinberger, Moshe (“Shani”)


Moshe, son of Ignatz and Margarita (Miriam), Weinberger, was born on the 11th of Iyar, May 21, 1929 in the city of Timoswara, Romania. He belonged to the Gordonia movement. When he immigrated to Israel he was among the last exiles of Cyprus. He immigrated to Israel in 1948 and immediately joined the IDF. He participated in operations in Jerusalem, the Triangle, Latrun, Kolleh and more, and reached as far as Rafiah, Auja el-Hafir and El Arish. During the battles, he was in Eilat and continued his regular service. He was very devoted to his parents who remained in Romania. He fell in the line of duty on the fifteenth of Sivan 5709 (June 12, 1949) and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.
