Weinberger, Jonathan-Sandy
Son of-Gohan-Perl and Eugen was born in Hadera on May 21, 1964. His family moved to Netanya, where Jonathan studied at Jonathan Elementary School and at the Tchernichovsky High School. He participated in the school newspaper and was one of its editors, and he published humorous lists and caricatures, loved music and knew how to play, and together with his friends in the school he established a rock band that acquired a reputation among the students in the schools in Netanya. On August 18, 1982, Yonatan enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to serve in the army. In April 1983, he was promoted to the rank of corporal, and his commanders noted that “Yonatan is an active noncommissioned officer and is active in matters of tripartism and manages the office very well.” In July 1984, Yonatan completed three officers’ training courses and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel, and was stationed in Lebanon for four months until his unit was transferred to the Nachshon camp near Jerusalem on July 30, 1984, During his service. The commander of his unit wrote to his parents: “During the difficult period of operational employment in the north, Yonatan served for four months, and was always ready to help his friends beyond his duty.
