Weinberger, Aharon-Mordechai
Son of Israel – David and Gitel. He was born on May 2, 1914, in Iwohel, Hungary, where he studied at the “Yeshiva” and then attended elementary school and completed his studies there. “Was when he was called to serve in the Hungarian army and there he was promoted to the rank of major. When World War II broke out, he joined the Red Army and went out to fight the Nazis. He was among the liberators of Yugoslavia, and in 1945, after liberation, returned to Budapest and joined the “Haoved” kibbutz. He went for training. At the kibbutz he worked as a guide. For years he traveled to Austria and other countries to reach Israel. In 1947 he finally arrived in Israel with his wife and baby daughter. He settled in Rehovot and did whatever he could. He was immediately called upon to fulfill his duty as a Jewish soldier and even during the days of his conscription, all his thoughts and concerns were given to his beloved family. He always carried his daughter’s picture with him and was afraid of a faithful father. Upon the outbreak of the War of Independence he joined the IDF and was proud of being a Hebrew soldier, and he specialized in the “Beza” machine gun, and after five weeks of suffering, on the day of 29 Adar 5709 (30.3.1949) And was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak, where he left a wife and daughter.
