Weidberg, Ephraim

Ephraim, son of Sima and Yakov Weidberg, was born on 2.4.1910 in Safed. He studied at the Talmud Torah and at the elementary school, and later studied plumbing. He served in the Haganah patrols as a mobile police officer around Safed and as a Hagana instructor. Ephraim endangered himself more than once in the security service of the Yishuv by heading into dangerous places. During the struggle he took part in Hagana underground activities against the British. Ephraim moved with his wife and two daughters to Tivon and continued his activities. From there he joined the Israel Defense Forces and took part in operations to liberate the Galilee. Ephraim was killed in a bomb explosion in Tivon on the 23rd of Tishrei (October 26, 1948). He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Amal.
