Waxman, Nachshon Mordechai

Waxman, Nachshon Mordechai

Ben Esther Gittel and Yehuda Aryeh. Was born on April 3, 1975 in Jerusalem, the third son of a family of seven sons. He was educated at the Horev Elementary School in Jerusalem and continued his studies at the Horev High School, where he completed his studies and received a matriculation certificate. Nachshon was a member of the “Ezra” youth movement, and later led young cadets. He took a first-aid course in MDA and volunteered there with great dedication, “said Nachman, a member of Ezra’s Ezra branch in Ramot.” Nahshon, it’s not so hard to get along with him. On the contrary, he radiated his love very much. “You do not know if you’ve ever been aware of the tremendous love people have for you,” says Yonit Friedberg and Hadas Raziel. Everywhere we went-everyone immediately knew you. Everyone who passes is your friend from here, and knows you from there. Each one of them won a smile, a handshake, as if he were the best friend in the world. “Nachshon was the smiling, optimistic, high-spirited, cheerful man in society – both his friends, his family and his comrades in arms. Nachon was drafted into the IDF in early August 1993 and, following his two older brothers, volunteered for Golani. He arrived at Golani’s “Crow” unit and wanted very much to be an officer, which was supposed to come true shortly afterwards. After basic training, and after being trained as a combat soldier, he did an operational service in Lebanon. The brigade commander wrote: “Nachshon was prominent at the beginning of his career at the Golani base at the base of the recruits: the constant smile that never left his face for a moment, even during difficulty, was the most outstanding feature of Nachshon, an external trait, but it conveys everything about his spiritual strength, maturity, worldview and understanding. Even when he was angry and sad, Nachshon knew how to convey this in his unique spirit and to influence his friends and more than once his commanders. ” Golani: “We will not forget your perpetual smile, the smile that charmed everyone, soldiers, commanders and friends, how in basic training she hung around with sergeants and officers like an old friend. The same smile, which even in hard training, in the unit and in Lebanon, was not erased after eight hours of guarding. “His friend, Udi Ben-Nun, says:” Commanders loved him, and he took advantage of it. When they gave him punishments, they would feel sorry for him. They would laugh at him and eventually give him up. In basic training, all the commanders from other companies, from other teams, did not have a distance with him, everyone had a distance, and only with him would they laugh, they would entertain him as if he were an old soldier. It’s hard to stand up to Nachshon. “Yaniv Simon says:” Always showing good will and sense of humor. Your inner will and power affected us, those around you. Your height and weight were smaller than ours, but you proved to us and to your commanders how big you are. “Nachshon was an innocent child who thought only good about others – a trait that did not allow him to suspect a car that stopped for him at the Yahud junction, carrying kippot, Hasidic music on a car, And arranging the terms on the seat. Nachshon was kidnapped on October 9, 1994 by terrorists from Hamas, and held hostage for six days. The entire country prayed and acted to release him. The whole nation was united in the desire to save one Jew’s soul. On Friday, 10 Cheshvan, October 14, 1994, a military operation took place in the house in which Nachshon was held in Bir Nabala, and the commander of the operation, Captain Nir Poraz and Nachshon, fell in battle. On Saturday night, at midnight, Nachshon was brought to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. About a hundredThousands participated in the funeral. Nineteen was Nachshon when he fell. He was promoted to sergeant after his death. Survived by his parents and six brothers – Haim, Hezi, Tzachi, Eli, Raphael and Uriel. In a letter of condolences to the family, Chief of Staff Ehud Barak wrote: “Nachshon was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held hostage in a house in Bir Nabala, where he was murdered in cold blood when an IDF force broke out in an attempt to rescue him. And was described by his commander as a disciplined soldier who believed in the justice of the road. He volunteered first for every mission, resourceful and at a high personal level. He was full of energy and joy of life, loved by those around him, with a developed ability to criticize, a natural leader, forged a special relationship with his friends, comrades in arms and with his commanders, creating a unique atmosphere in his team. ” . You are murdered for being a proud Jew who lives in your country, for being a soldier in the IDF … You are murdered by those who try to sabotage everything you believed in: the security of the Jewish people in its state, the sanctity of life, fairness and love of others. “We expected a young fighter to grow up and be a role model for other fighters, all of whom were cut off while they were still fighting.” Rabbi Mordechai Elon, head of the Horev yeshiva, wrote: “I see you here in Nachshon, with the same constant smile, you, for what you, little Nachshon, have done to an entire people. That smile. ” “Your last mission, after all the ambushes and openings of the deputies, an APC driver or a squad commander, is to unite the people, which is almost impossible, and prove that you are capable of that too.” “Now, when I think of you, I see a person, rather a child, with a special charm, that at first we did not see it and did not notice, but after you left us, I see before the eyes a great man “He managed to do things that many people of your size and age did not succeed in doing, such as carrying the missile that was almost twice as big as you, and weighing half your weight, but you dragged it like a giant.” A member of the team, Yisrael Heiman, wrote: “One thing I know is that I lost a friend, a friend who radiates warmth and humanity, caring and helping others, whom I have never seen before. Many commemoration activities were done in memory of Nachshon. His parents published a book in his memory containing the words of family members, friends and commanders, about his character, combined with songs of the Land of Israel; Four Torah scrolls were written in his memory; A bird-migration school was inaugurated in Latrun, named for Captain Nir Poraz; A Center for Understanding and Tolerance was established in his name; The Beit Midrash, in the synagogue where he prayed, was named after him; The Nahshon and Nir Respiratory System for the Elderly and Infant Health Fund was established; Many parents around the country called their sons Nachshon. Recently, a new building was built in Jerusalem for Shalva, a center for handicapped children called Beit Nachshon.
