Waxenberg, Amiram


Son of Batya and Israel, was born on the 7th of Elul, August 20, 1931, in Moshav Tel Adashim, in the Jezreel Valley. He studied at the elementary school in the moshav, and later at the Mikveh Israel Agricultural School. He was a devoted and loyal worker in the farm of his parents on the moshav. He was a member of the “Haganah” from his youth. He passed through the Gadna and Hachish stages, until he joined the Golani brigade at the outbreak of the War of Independence. He participated in the battles of Tzemach, Lubia and Mishmar HaYarden. On the 5th of Sivan, June 12, 1948, during Operation Brosh, in a counter-attack by our forces against the Syrians, who conquered a bridgehead in Mishmar HaYarden, Amiram was sent to remove a wounded man from the battlefield. A bullet hit him and he was killed on the spot. Amiram was brought to eternal rest, in a mass grave with his friends, who fell in the same battle, in the military cemetery, in Rosh Pina.
