Waxberger, Moshe Avraham (Brido)


Son of Sarah Leah and Joseph. He was born on July 19, 1951 in Romania. For parents who are Holocaust survivors. In 1952, when Moshe was a few months old, the family immigrated to Israel with her two young sons. After a short stay in the Har Tuv transit camp, the family moved to Sde Ilan in the Lower Galilee, where they established an agricultural farm. When Moshe was three years old, his father died. After a while his mother married Moshe Shtroll, who raised and educated the two little boys, as if they were his own children. Moshe attended elementary school in Sde Ilan and in the afternoon he studied in a Talmud Torah. He continued to study at the vocational high school in Kfar Batya, in the plumber track. Moshe was meticulous in observing tradition and mitzvot. He loved the work of the land and helped his parents with the farm. He played a lot of sports: playing soccer, table tennis, and winning medals for his achievements in running competitions. At the beginning of May 1969, Moshe was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the infantry brigade, where he completed basic training, was assigned to the Nahal Brigade 906 and was sent to continue his combat course in the Infantry Corps course. Moshe received the rank of corporal and was sent to serve in the command staff at Beit Horon, where he was sent to the 155th Armored Corps course and was awarded the rank of sergeant. In 1973 Moshe was a partner in the establishment of a new reserve battalion, and he went to reserve duty in this unit, loved the unit and was proud to belong to it. Moshe had a great deal of knowledge in operating the heavy and complex tools, and at any time he was ready to solve any problem and offer any help. In 1974 Moshe married his girlfriend Bella. They expanded their home on the birth of their four children. Moshe was an exemplary family man. Happy and proud of his family and always involved in the education of his children. After spending a period of time in Bnei Brak, he returned with his family to the village of his childhood, to work in agriculture. Was a devoted son to his parents, loved and accepted among his many acquaintances, acted modestly and simply and much in love of others. On June 8, 1993, Moshe was electrocuted to death while he was descending from a watchtower in the Deheishe refugee camp, and was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the cemetery in the field Ilan, and his daughter, Rachel, a mother and two brothers – Naftali and Yitzhak … In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “… Sergeant Wexberger Moshe (Wax) ) Died on battery duty. He was one of the founders of the battalion in 1973 and with him went to Israel’s wars, operational activities and service in the territories during the Intifada … Wax was a friend and friend, a model commander who trusted his comrades and commanders. … in his special way he was an example and model for generations of young soldiers. “
