Wallach, Michael
He was born on March 15, 1912 in Bessarabia and immigrated to Israel in 1933. Since 1937 Michael was active in the Hagana, always responding to every call and fulfilling every order. On the morning of 9 Tammuz 5708 (16.7.1948), the Legion forces attacked the outpost and, aided by artillery fire and armored vehicles, swept the positions of the platoon at the front post and forced the company to withdraw. In this battle he fell and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya. He left a wife and two daughters, one of them poetess Yona Wallach.
