On Wednesday, May 13, 1948, he served as a paramedic in an attack on the village of Tira, which was attacked by the enemy and many of them were injured. Zvi felt compelled to help his wounded comrades and remained the only medic on the battlefield, but did not return from the battle. His body was found three days later in the vicinity of four of his friends’ bodies. He must have picked up a deer next to him and said to protect them and save them.
