Wahbi, Ihab


Son of Adala and Galal, was born in the Druze village of Daliyat al-Carmel on August 2, 1985, the eldest brother of Eyal and Ronen. Ihab, affectionately nicknamed ‘Ivo’, was an example of his little brothers, cared for them, prepared food for them, and used to pamper them. Ihab graduated with honors from the Hassoun Elementary School in Daliyat al-Carmel, where he was a good and dedicated student who loved English and mathematics, and his classmates loved him and his generosity. The Kupatan Halabi Interdisciplinary Center and the Ort Ronson High School in Mount Carmel, in a reinforced physics program. His friends say that after receiving a driver’s license, Ihab drove them to their home at the end of the studies in a car that his father had purchased for him. Ihab was the DJ. Of the class, or as they used to call it, ‘D.J. Ihab. ‘ He was a loving, responsible and devoted son to his parents. There was no hatred in his heart and he lived his life with joy, and he had courage and determination. Ihab loved to listen to music, was interested in cars, football, cooking, and loved to travel with his family in his neighborhood. He liked to make people happy and wanted to do just good. Ihab joined the IDF in November 2003, completed basic training and was assigned to the intervention team (100) – one of the most challenging routes in the Military Police Corps – on February 16, 2004, when Ihab was killed at the age of 19. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Daliya cemetery Al-Carmel, left behind his parents and two brothers, and his family wrote a song in his memory: “How can we forget … / Smile of angels / Eyes open to life / Child, boy, innocent man We have kissed every opportunity // how to forget / a special flower like a redhead / flower that is 18 years old and there is no smell of it, How will we forget / The holiday will come again As usual / Your mother and your father will bless you / tell you how much they missed / Ever since you forgot / Make a vow / That will never forget / And tear in tears and ask: / How was forgotten? Ihab … “
