Vorontzberg, Alexander (“Alex”)

Son of Leon and Bella. He was born on the 18th of Adar I 5708 (February 23, 1948) in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. At the age of nine, Alex owned the family to Israel. In Kfar Sava he completed his elementary studies at the “Alumim” institution and when he completed his studies he was transferred to the Hadasim youth village where he graduated from high school. He read and wrote poems. He listened to classical music, played chess and practiced sports (swimming and running). Was inherently silent and self-contained; He seemed to be serious about his age. He excelled in his studies (and as a result, he skipped from fifth grade to seventh grade), and at Hadasim School, he made great progress in the real professions. His main ambition was to study medicine and was very disappointed when he did not take the entrance exams to the medical school at the Hebrew University. However, he did not give up his ambition, since the 1967 school year was not accepted, but he had plans for the future. And when he did not accept his failure, he continued to talk about medicine and continued to hope. Spent a lot of time with his father in various conversations whether it was Alexander’s problems or the father’s financial problems. In November 1966, when he completed his high school studies, he was drafted into the IDF and wanted to be a paratrooper, but his father’s consent was not given to him and he decided to volunteer for the Golani Brigade. In the midst of his regular service, the Six-Day War broke out and the battle that took place at Umm Katef in Sinai on the first day of the battles, on the 6th of Iyar 5727 (June 5, 1967), when he was in Zukai and moved with the force, . He was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and was later transferred to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. The booklet “The Brigade in the Six Day War” was mentioned in the book “Nachal Negev in the Campaign” was dedicated to him and to remember several pages.
