Vogelman, Aharon-Mordechai (Aviram)


Aharon Mordechai (Aviram), son of Sarah and Zvi Vogelman, was born in 1930 in Nova-Miesto, Poland, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1939. He graduated from the “Mizrachi” Boys School, then worked as a mechanic of the bus company HaMa’abir (now Dan). Aharon Mordechai joined the Irgun and participated in many operations against the British and in the winter of 1948 against the Arabs. At the time of the Etzel attack on the Manshiyya neighborhood, in the northern part of Jaffa, Aharon-Mordechai fought for 48 hours straight, with his leg wounded, and performed many more fearless, heroic acts. During the transfer of explosives to besieged Jerusalem, he was killed in an explosion. This was on the 18th of Sivan 5708 (24.6.1948) and he was brought to rest at the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
