Vital, Israel Moshe


Son of Shmuel and Hinda. He was born on June 19, 1929 in Haifa. As a child he moved with his family to Hadera, where he completed his studies at the Ahad Ha’am elementary school. He then went on to study at the Max Payne Professional School in Tel Aviv. Moshe was one of the most prominent students in both his talents and perseverance, as well as his kindness and devotion to his friends. He was a quiet, humble and beloved boy to his many teachers and friends. He was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement as an apprentice and counselor. The love of the land, the willingness to serve and act for the public was absorbed in his home. His father was a Haganah operative in the village of Brandeis, and his house was stored in a Haganah armory. He was responsible for keeping the south-east of Hadera. His sisters were conscripted in the British army and accompanied by convoys. Therefore, it is not surprising that after completing his studies he volunteered for a year of service as a guard. Moshe was assigned to the Ma’ayan Tzvi group, was a commander of a unit of guards, and at the end of the year returned to Tel Aviv, where he worked for the Israel Electric Corporation, In defending the neighborhoods of southern Tel Aviv from the attack on the Jaffa breakers, and as a reinforcement to the besieged kibbutz Negba and took part in repelling the Egyptian invasion of the kibbutz. In December 1948, he joined the “Harel” nucleus, which was to move up and settle on the Beit Jiz outposts on the way to Jerusalem. In the meantime he continued to serve as a scout in the Negev. On the 19th of Nissan 5704 (19.4.1949), Moses fell in the mountains of Sodom and was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the Hadera cemetery.
