Vishniov, Yair


Son of Herzl and Shifra. He was born on 17.10.1956 in Kibbutz Sarid. He attended elementary school in his kibbutz. Afterward he studied at the Amakim Regional High School on Kibbutz Mizra and completed his studies at the Technikum Technical School in Haifa, in the electricity and electronics sector. From his childhood Yair was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement. He was an avid sports fan and excelled in the volleyball game. He was a regular member of Kibbutz Sarid’s volleyball team and was later chosen to participate in the national youth team. His teammates say: “From the moment he joined the regular training, Yair belonged to the regular team, and he invested his entire soul in the game and practiced steadily beyond the regular training, and we soon felt that Yair had good data to be an excellent player. As a member of Israel’s youth team, Yair participated twice in international matches – in Spain, Germany and Switzerland – and he did not take pride in his successes, on the contrary, his outstanding qualities were humility, honesty and dedication. On the national team. ” Yair loved nature and traveled extensively throughout the country. He did not miss a single trip as part of the school or the movement. During his studies at the technical school in Haifa, Yair specialized in the construction of small electronics. After a while he went to work in the orchard. He loved the work and devoted himself to it. Yair was drafted into the IDF in October 1975 and volunteered for the Nahal Brigade, wanting to combine military service with agricultural work in the outpost. He was sent to basic training in the center of the country and was soon discovered as an excellent and obedient soldier. The commander of the battalion says: “Yair was a devoted and disciplined soldier and arrived within a short period of time to a very high personal level, and as a friend, he helped his friends, assisted them and was one of those who could be trusted in difficult situations. Yair was chosen as an outstanding trainee, and thanks to his dedication and success, he received a vacation almost every week. He was careful to keep in close contact with his family and often write to his parents and respond to their letters. On the 27th of Shevat 5736 (27.1.1976) he fell while performing his duties. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Kibbutz Sarid. Survived by his parents and two sisters. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “From conversations with his commanders and friends, the image of Yair as a model soldier emerges as a good friend who is prepared to help everyone, and as a person with principles. We will always remember Yair as a model and exemplary source. “His parents published a pamphlet in his memory, containing condolence letters from his friends and relatives, fragments of his letters,And memoirs raised by his schoolmates and basic training.
