Vigodsky, Amos

Amos, son of Esther and Yosef, was born on 12 November 1929 in Kibbutz Gvat. When the battles of the War of Independence began in 1948, he and several members of the kibbutz were organized into the local guard company. In the battle for the capture of Lod, he was seriously wounded in the leg, near his stomach. In the absence of a qualified medic, his friends bandaged him according to his instructions (he himself underwent a “first aid” course). Amos died of blood loss on 4 Tamuz, July 11, 1948. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Gvat.
