Vidal, Ari (Yechiel)

Ari, son of Vivian and Moshe Vidal, was born in 1973 in Holon. At the end of November 1991, Ari was recruited to serve in the Israel Defense Forces and was assigned to the Golani Brigade. He fought on many fronts, including Yehuda V’Shomron and Lebanon. After a period of time, he was promoted to sergeant. Ari always used to carry a prayer book and tefillin inside his protective vest and he was careful to keep the Sabbath. According to his commander, Ari was a brave fighter, with great vitality and readiness for every mission. He was full of joy and always had a smile on his face. On the 2nd of Elul (19.8.1993) Ari was killed after a night ambush when his force encountered an explosive device. He was buried in the military cemetery in Holon.
