Vega Garcia, Diego-Daniel


Son of Baruch and Rachel. Born on February 1, 1955 in Bolfrio, Chile, he graduated from elementary school in his hometown and then moved to high school, always excelling in his studies and achieving high marks on the annual examinations. He had a literary talent and he liked to write romantic stories and even won a prize for some of his literary works for his school, and he read and loved to listen to music. In 1972, at the age of seventeen, Diego immigrated to Israel and his family remained in Chile. Kibbutz Megiddo, where his brother lived, and began to learn Hebrew in the kibbutz ulpan, while he worked in the kibbutz and in the kibbutz, and he loved the kibbutz life, assimilated with the adults and enjoyed his contribution to creativity and construction in the kibbutz. , Diego, was drafted into the IDF at the end of July 1973, and volunteered for a paratroop brigade, and after completing basic training he moved to the Armored Corps School, took a vocational course and became a tank gunner. . He was a good soldier, loved by his friends and accepted in his unit. Together with his friends, he underwent training as part of the corps and was trained as a tanker. In 1974 he married his girlfriend Bettina. You aspired to build a home and establish a family in Israel. On December 20, 1974, Diego died at the time of his service and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Kibbutz Megiddo, leaving behind a wife, parents, brother and three sisters.
