Vazegiel, Jacob


Son of Mordechai and Fania. He was born on October 9, 1943. In the city of Saratov in Russia, When they arrived in Israel in June 1959, Yaakov continued to study and studied mechanical frameworks at the Neurim Institute in Kfar Vitkin, where he participated in all activities of the Gadna and other social activities. He read books a lot and in his spare time he loved to listen to classical music. Yaakov enlisted in the IDF in early February 1962 and was assigned to the Ordnance Corps, where he underwent a number of professional courses and was finally trained as a weapon and was awarded the rank of corporal. After his discharge from the regular army service he studied waiters at the Tadmor hotel school and began working as a waiter. During the Six-Day War, Jacob was called to serve, and after the war he was awarded the Six Day War. On the 5th of Sivan 5709 (5.6.1969), he fell in battle in the Gaza Strip and was put to rest at the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. In a letter of condolence sent by his commander to the family, he wrote: “Yaakov fulfilled his duties with great loyalty and always did his best to fulfill his duty.”
