Vaanunu, Ben Yitzhak


The eldest son of Sarit Ricky and Ilan. Ben-Itzhak was born on June 6, 1995 in Ashdod, the eldest brother of Roni Reshel, Moshe Chaim and Yishai Meir. On November 17, 2013, Ben-Yitzhak enlisted in the IDF, serving as a combat soldier in the Golani Brigade. In June 2014, rocket fire from the Gaza Strip to Israel intensified, and as a result, Israel launched Operation Tzuk Eitan against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The operation began on 8 July 2014 with aerial bombardments, and nine days later, ground incursions of military units into the Gaza Strip began to deal with the firing points and the terror tunnels, which were carried out until the end of the operation at the end of August. Ben Yitzhak fell in a battle in Shuja’iyeh during Operation Tzuk Eitan on July 20, 2014. With him fell Sergeant Oren Simcha Noah, Sergeant Daniel Pomerantz, Sergeant Oron Shaul, Staff Sergeant Shachar Sasha, Sergeant Shawn Mondshain and Sergeant Max Donald Steinberg. Ben Yitzhak was nineteen years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the Ashdod military cemetery. Survived by parents, sister and two brothers. After his fall, Ben Yitzhak was raised to the rank of sergeant.
