Son of Simi and Moshe, Uriel was born in Jerusalem on the 27th of Tamuz, July 7, 1964 and grew up in Beit Shemesh. He was a quick-paced child, full of talent, captivating attention and had a sense of humor. He was drafted into the army in March 1987 and assigned to the Intelligence Corps. Uriel completed his regular service in March 1990 with the rank of captain and was supposed to continue his career in the army, but fell during his service in a road accident on the 14th of Adar, March 11, 1990 and was brought to eternal rest in the military section of Beit Shemesh cemetery. He left behind his parents, five sisters – Hannah, Bruria, Yocheved, Rachel and Bat-Sheva and six brothers – Michael, Gabriel, Rafael, Uziel, Tzuriel and Paltiel. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote that Uri performed his duties both as an engineer and as an exceptional officer, and stood out among his colleagues with his personality and his unique joy of life.
