Ullman, Yaakov

Son of Dvora and Mordechai. Yaakov was born in Komerno, Czechoslovakia, on August 4, 2222. in 1946 he came to Israel on illegal immigration and settled in Kibbutz Kfar Maccabi in Haifa. On May 16, 1958, Yaakov arrived at the base after an operational activity. He disarmed and checked the grenades in the weapons cache. After the examination he discovered that one grenade was damaged and tried to neutralize it. He ran toward the exit from the storeroom, and after seeing that there were people outside the weapons storeroom, he decided not to endanger the environment. Yaakov was left in the storeroom, the grenade exploded in his hand and he was killed on the spot. Sergeant Yaakov was thirty-six years old when he died. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem.
