Tzur (Tsudzinovski), Yigal
Son of Lily and Ze’ev, was born on May 6, 1956 in Tel Aviv. He attended the “Galilee” elementary school in Neveh Tzahal and continued his studies at the Ort Singalovski vocational school in Tel Aviv, where he joined the United Movement in May 1974. In May 1974 he joined the IDF and served in the Armored Corps in the Sinai. After a basic training period, he underwent an Armored Corps course, was promoted to Corporal and sent to the NCO course. In December 1975 he was promoted to sergeant. He was sent to the officers’ course and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in July 1976. Yigal completed his compulsory service and continued to serve for another six months on a permanent basis. He began studying production engineering as part of the Institute for Productivity. He excelled in his studies, won the title of practical engineer, and was accepted to work at the bank. His superiors at work noted his “diligence, dedication and responsibility.” A month before he was killed, he was chosen as an outstanding worker at the bank where he worked. He contributed a great deal in the field of computers, machinery and equipment, introduced new and effective methods of work and concentrated in his hands special operations that were successful. After settling in, he married, established a home and had a daughter. In February 1983 he was drafted into reserve duty in his unit. He had to supervise the dismantling of barrels of fuel in forklifts. On the first day of Adar 5743 (February 14, 1983), while he was overseeing the dismantling of the barrels, a forklift truck drove back and trampled him to death. He was 26 years old when he died, and was promoted to the rank of captain. He left behind a wife – Anat, daughter – Keren, parents and sister – Vered.
