Tzemach (Mizrachi), Ovadia (Oved)


Ovadia, son of Rachel and Tzemach Mizrachi was born on September 25, 1929 in Jerusalem to parents who immigrated from Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. When he came to Jerusalem he joined the Haganah. He fought for the House of Mandelbaum, Mekor Chaim and the Old City, where he completed a sabotage course and participated in the explosion of the Semiramis Hotel in Katamon and in a sabotage operation in Wadi Joz. On 13 Adar (24.3.1948) in a convoy that went up to Atarot, he encountered enemy fire near Shuafat, and was killed. Ovadia was buried in Sanhedria in Jerusalem and on 24 September 1951, he was sent to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
