Son on Machlouf and Sarah. He was born on the 28th of Kislev 5727 (November 28, 1956) in France. He immigrated to Israel with his family in 1961. He attended the seventh elementary school in Tiberias and continued his studies at the city’s youth center. A year later, he moved to a mechanical and motor-vehicle school in Acre and finished there with great success. After graduating he worked as a locksmith in Tiberias. He was a devoted and loyal son to his parents and maintained close contact with his brothers and sisters. Prior to his induction into the IDF, he volunteered to study driving in a pre-military course and successfully completed his studies, and was drafted into the IDF in May 1975 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After basic training he was sent to an armored brigade in the Golan Heights. He quickly absorbed himself in his work and liked his commanders and friends. On September 1, 1975, Israel fell while fulfilling its duties in the Golan Heights. He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Tiberias. Survived by his parents, two sisters and four brothers. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of the unit wrote: “Israel served in an armored unit in the Golan Heights and fulfilled his duties with dedication and responsibility, and he was an excellent soldier and a friend to all those around him.” His family donated a holy ark to the synagogue in his neighborhood in Tiberias.
