Tzarfaty, Chaim
Son of Elisha and Yakut. He was born on August 8, 1932, in Fez, Morocco, where he completed his studies at the Alliance elementary school and later attended a vocational high school, and in 1951 immigrated to Israel with his brother and was drafted into the army And served as an operator in the air force. In 1956, Mossad was accepted as a wireless operator and after the Kadesh operation joined the “framework” – a group of activists involved in bringing the Jews of North Africa to Israel. Haim participated in all the voyages of the “Egoz” ship. On the 11th of Tevet 5761 (11.1.1961), on its last voyage, the ship “Egoz” drowned off the coast of Morocco with 43 immigrants on board and a Spanish mechanic. The bodies of 22 illegal immigrants were sent ashore and brought for burial. Haim’s body was not found and therefore a monument was erected in his memory in the part of the missing persons in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He was twenty-nine years old when he died. He was survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister. The name of Chaim was immortalized on the stone walls at the state memorial site for the fallen of the intelligence community in Glilot, at the monument commemorating the passengers of the Egoz ship, the air force and the Signal Corps. The place is a memorial for those whose burial place is unknown.
