Tzarfaty, Aharon


Son of Esther and Avraham, was born on July 1, 1925, in the city of Gao-Urastia, Greece, and immigrated to Israel on May 10, 1935, at the age of 10. Aharon quickly adapted to the Hebrew language and completed elementary school and began to work in shoemaking to support his elderly parents. After joining the Irgun underground, he took part in operations against the British and was seriously injured in his hand, but managed to evade the British who were searching for him. With the outbreak of the War of Independence Aaron participated in the conquest of Jaffa and Judea, and in the attack on Ramle, he endangered his life to save his comrade with a stomach injury. On the 21st of Iyar, May 30, 1948, after the assault on Rosh HaAyin, a few moments after its capture by the enemy, Aaron was mortaly wounded. He was laid to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Petah Tikva.
